I had a quick play with the new ZTE Grand X last night. The dual-core 4.3″ Android 4.0 smartphone is a sleeker, faster offering than I’d come to expect from ZTE and seems more than adequate for both passive playback of high-definition video, and more immersive gaming.
I played some sort of FPS game for a while and the gaming experience was definitely above average – with a distinct lack of lag or juddery playback. The design is that of your standard Android smartphone, although fortunately this standard is quite high.
The phone is £190 on Pay As You Go, which is ridiculous when I think of the off-contract price of my iPhone.
The ZTE Grand X should be out in stores in August and will be on both Phones 4u and Virgin Media across the UK.
