Newsstand for digital magazines will be embedded in ASUS@vibe+ platform
LONDON – 5th March 2013 – lekiosk has formed a partnership with ASUS that will see its newsstand for digital magazines promoted on the hardware manufacturer’s new content platformASUS@vibe+. 800 English, French, and Italian-language titles will be available to ASUS tablet users via lekiosk’s signature news-kiosk-style user interface – itself hosted within the entertainment and content service ASUS provides exclusively to its tablet users.
lekiosk has the most successfully monetised iPad app in France (where it is already on 1 in 4 iPads), and expects the partnership with ASUS to further extend its reach within the Android ecosystem. The deal follows lekiosk’s successful Series B funding round, which raised $7.1m from CM-CIC and FSN PME CDC Enterprises in November 2012. ASUS’ line of tablets includes the Nexus 7, the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700, the Transformer Pad TF300 and the MeMO Pad.
Robin Sabban, co-founder and head of partnerships at lekiosk, commented: “The proportion of people who want to consume magazines through their tablets are increasing all the time. lekiosk is already the magazine platform of choice for iPad users who fall into this group – thanks to this deal, we will also be able to deliver the same quality of experience and range of titles to the owners of tablets made by ASUS, one of the world’s top 3 consumer notebook vendors. We look forward to a successful partnership.”
Vira Chang, head of eBusiness Service Department of ASUS, commented: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with the leading supplier of digital format magazines. The 800 titles distributed by lekiosk are a worthy addition to our ASUS@vibe+ content service, and add real entertainment value for our users.”
lekiosk has innovated in making magazines available on digital platforms, including desktops, smartphones, and tablets, since its founding in 2007. The lekiosk apps have had 700,000 downloads since January 2011.
