Smaller. Lighter. Quieter. Promises. Promises. Promises.

We’ve yet to test Dyson’s new DC49, but the company promises it’s been engineered to be the smallest, quietest Ball™ vacuum cleaner yet. At 2.7kg, the DC49 is 30% smaller than its predecessor, the DC47, and Dyson’s acoustic engineers went to work on all sorts of improvements to make a quieter machine. The digital motor V4, also used in Dyson’s Airblade hand dryers, give the tiny machine the power and performance of a full size vacuum cleaner.

It holds up to 0.5 litres of dirt and has a trigger-bin emptying system so you don’t have to get your hands dirty – just push the button to empty dust and dirt.

The Dyson DC49 is available at and electrical retailers for £349.99
