What is dizmo, you might ask? Well, it’s what happens when you want one word for ‘digital gizmo’. In the last few years the maps, photos, watches, diaries, CDs, books and magazines we may have carried around in a backpack are pretty much all contained in a single mobile device. But quick, simple access and attemping to do more than a few things at once is not nearly as easy as you might like it to be.

Remember Tom Cruise in Minority Report? Well, dizmo founder and CEO Matthias Aebi says that while hardware performance continues to improve, we’re still stuck with the traditional icons invented in the 70s and 80s and so the team at dizmo wants to “create something that brings digital content into 2014 in a natural and intuitive way”. The user-interface software means that simulations, charts, images, live websites and videos can all live together and be moved, rotated and interacted with so you can can your own real life version of Minority Report playing in your living room, office, wherever. You can use the same touch screen to keep track of your schedule, watch kitten videos, keep an eye on a sloth webcam and follow your friends on twitter. All while you’re following a recipe for pancakes. It’s even more useful for actual work.

Have a look at the Kickstarter page to see how you can make dizmos a reality.
