Bowers & Wilkins, aka B&W, is one of the best-known and most highly respected names in the world of hi-fi and home cinema, and now the company has updated its extremely popular and successful Mini Theatre series.

The radically updated and upgraded MINI Theatre series features two systems: the MT-50 and the MT-60D. Both systems provide the sort of power and definition you’d expect from B&W, but squeezed into a compact and stylish package that will blend perfectly into your living room and home cinema set up. B&W has made significant improvements with the new MT range and as a result they deliver an even more impressive performance, with improved detail, better bass performance and significantly enhanced integration between the subwoofers and satellite speakers.

At the heart of both systems sit the five M-1 speakers, which take of everything from rear surround duties to the centre channel, with a clever table-top stand allowing this speaker to be positioned horizontally. But, don’t let its compact dimension fool you, because the new and improved version of the M-1 is a fantastic stereo performer and, despite its satellite design, is comparable with B&W’s bookshelf speakers. In order to achieve this, the M-1 has been completely redesigned internally with all-new drive units, and also features more robust speaker cable terminations as well as a better connection to the supplied tabletop stand and bracket, with floor stands available as an optional extra.

The MT-50 system replaces the MT-25 system and uses the same ASW608 subwoofer as its predecessor did, while the MT-60D system features the PV1D subwoofer, which now uses the same digital platform as the B&W flagship DB1 subwoofer. This not only gives it greater flexibility but, combined with the new drive units, results in a significantly improved output. A new OLED display and touch button array provide easy access to a number of pre-sets and tuning options, while a custom version of the SubApp PC software provides more advanced set-up options and it’s all topped off with some subtle styling revisions.

The new Mini Theatre range goes on sale from February 13 priced as follows:

  • MT-50 – £1,099
  • MT-60D – £1,950
  • M-1 (each) – £150
  • PV1D – £1,200
  • ASW608 – £349
  • M-1 stands (each) – £1000
